Akron has seen a lot in her 200 year history, both highs and lows. That's why we are replanting our 100 year old church with one mission in mind: restore purpose by following Jesus together in everyday life.
Replanting simply means restarting. We are doing this because we believe this is the best way to love and serve our city of Akron, Ohio. Akron has seen a lot: the rubber industry thriving then slowly declining, tensions brought about by issues of national importance, a downtown that has gone through much transformation, and so much more. When faced with what we can do for our city, we have summarized it in one word: restore. With that in mind, we (re)start our church.
Stop, evaluate, and build. That's our 3-fold process for everything we're doing as a church. Over 100 years, we've come to do a lot. However, sometimes the good thing we're doing isn't the great thing we need to do. Therefore we are stopping everything, evaluating what we should be doing to do the great work of restoring purpose (again, our mission), and then we are building anew with the mission in mind. It's kind of like starting a brand new church, except we have a century of faithful legacy that we're launching from.
We have three main ways for people to jump on board as we restore purpose by following Jesus together in everyday life!
